HP supercell convection with linear

VORTEX2: June 1, 2009 - 22 days. Operations provided for in the field: linear convection.
Miles traveled today: 295. Total miles traveled: 6953.

Finally, when we head out of the hotel this morning we are greeted by a climate much more similar to what you want to encounter when you embark on an adventure like this, hot and humid. Surely we are not at the levels of humidity that you would like, however, is the best we've had in recent weeks.
the briefing this morning shows in addition to the weather for the next three days, even a quick note on yesterday. Late yesterday afternoon, was monitored in detail a storm that could not or to organize becoming a rotating supercell. The thing that surprised all the experts is the fact that despite the end of the storm arrived in an area with good conditions (CAPE over 1500 J / Kg, and a good sher discrete helicity) has failed to trigger the rotate .

For now however it was not until the late morning to check the latest comments on the ground. There is great certainty about the possibility that convection is especially deep today. Slight Risk area as indicated by the Storm Prediction Center is very extensive and the possibility that tomorrow should be much further south of our current position dictates the choice of operations for the day. Surely we can not operate north of Interstate 80 and then will most likely come down to the south.
Meanwhile, the first rule is to always move to the west to York on I-80. Lunch is organized in the usual manner, in the parking lot of Wal-Mart in York and later There are a good couple of hours of waiting during which, as usual, there is a procession of people intrigued by our presence and affected by our strange vehicles.
Finally at 4 pm the order came to move further south along Highway 81. A series of towering cumulus formed along the convergence zone of winds on the ground. It is still very time-aligned and strongly connected to each other. The caravan, however, attempts to intercept a cell that appears to be more detached and marginal compared to the line.

probe intercept Some small hail and wind gusts of particularly intense outflow. Sometimes form lowering of the suspects in different parts of the line and fall to the ground while lightning appears to the radar for a few minutes a little bit of low-level shear, but the rotation is not organized and never seriously all the time and the cells continue to interact with a others by taking a more linear structure.
At 6 o'clock in the afternoon the order came to abandon the field, as after the radar have collected enough data. Only an hour's drive separates us from Salina, Kansas where we spend the night before a good dinner at Chilly's.
