In early afternoon we try to move outside the zone of dense woods and hills of South Dakota that characterizes this beautiful natural landscapes. On the radar it seems that some time come to life right in the heart of the mountains but with the passage of time and with the launch of a pair of balloons that are used to measure all the meteorological parameters, we realize that, unfortunately, that the atmosphere has not reached still a level of instability to be able to support the development of time once they reach the flat land surrounding the Black Hills.

And so in the afternoon c''è unfortunately little else to do for the caravan of VORTEX2 if not to return to the hotel after hours of waiting. For the crews of the four probes, however, there is a surprise in Serbian packaged by Sean Casey director of the California TIV2 armored vehicle. I was shooting some scenes for the series Storm Chasers on Discovery Channel for his IMAX film on tornadoes.
We enter this long dusty dirt roads that run through the rolling grasslands at the foot of the Black Hills (this is called the Black Hills for the color very of trees that cover the dark) until we find the right location for the filmmaker.

The IMAX camera is mounted on a special platform that protrudes from the hood of an SUV that accompany the production and caravan (four probe and TIV2) walk up and down the dirt trying different shots. The funniest moment comes, however, given by a bull who, annoyed by the presence of our presence, begins to load one of our probe and only the alertness of the driver escapes with accelerated manages to avoid a possible draft on the side .. .
